Derrick Shelton has spent his 25-plus-year professional career at Haley & Aldrich, and he’s built a deep understanding of how to manage complex infrastructure projects through collaboration and consensus-building. In addition to geotechnical expertise, Derrick brings a history of partnership with a spectrum of public and private entities, meaning he’s adept at navigating diverse stakeholder goals while staying on schedule and on budget.
A client-driven team leader, Derrick strives to meet client needs by achieving wins for other project stakeholders as well — leading to collegial and productive working relationships. He has managed and consulted on many building, highway, bridge, and other infrastructure projects throughout the Washington, D.C., metropolitan area and throughout the country. Through this work, Derrick has honed the ability to translate the needs of government agencies, private clients, and other stakeholders to successfully achieve project goals. He brings these insights to every aspect of a project, from developing proposals and scope to managing day-to-day field activities to resolving technical or process issues that arise along the road to completion.
“I love that, in engineering, no two days are the same. Even if you think you’re going to tackle a problem you’ve seen before, you often end up looking for new technical solutions and finding new ways to serve clients’ needs.”
