An environmental hydrogeologist with deep experience in investigating and remediating complex industrial sites, Sylvan partners with clients to manage risk so they can focus on their core business. He takes a big-picture, client-centered approach in every project, considering how technical work fits with clients’ business priorities, regulatory requirements, and the needs of other stakeholders.
Sylvan has guided clients through regulatory closure under federal programs such as Resource Conservation and Recovery Act Corrective Action and Toxic Substances Control Act cleanups, as well as under state programs in Georgia and Connecticut. He has also developed groundwater models for contaminant fate and transport analysis, contaminated site characterization, and remediation design.
“I chose this career because I wanted to use my geoscience background to solve real-world problems for my clients. I’ve stayed passionate about the work because it produces tangible societal and economic benefits, keeping people safe while enabling the continued use or redevelopment of industrial properties.”
