Maggie Cahoon - Intern

Maggie Cahoon

Maggie Cahoon is a student at Keene State College pursuing a bachelor’s in Safety and Occupational Health Applied Sciences and Business Management (dual major). Since May 2020, Maggie has been working on and off during school breaks as an Intern with our Health & Safety team based out of Manchester, New Hampshire. She joined us amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, and noted that despite the circumstances, “the Health & Safety team put me right to work and provided me with amazing experiences while working remotely. When the offer was extended to continue working this summer, it was an easy yes!” Maggie is a field hockey coach and has danced for 18 years. She credits her dancing experience with helping her develop not only her performance skills, but also her communication skills!

How do you think your internship has prepared you for your future career?
“The Health & Safety team provided opportunity for me to create a variety of different content on safety regulations and programs, allowed me to develop trainings, interact with staff in the field, and experience work with clients. This mix of exposure to their everyday work has made me confident as I finish up school and step into the workforce. I couldn’t be more thankful for the experience.”

Noah Carter

Noah Carter

Noah Carter is a student at the University of Hawaii at Manoa pursuing a bachelor’s in Natural Resources and Environmental Management. Noah was based in our Honolulu office this summer and was excited about “gaining experience when it comes to applying what I have learned in university courses to real problems.” He sought to “develop my communication skills and get more used to speaking with coworkers and peers in a professional setting.” Noah has worked for a dog rescue fostering and adopting out dogs, played soccer and lacrosse, is a scuba diver, and is a big Warriors fan!

Sarah Condon

Sarah Condon

Sara Condon is a student at Northeastern University pursuing a master’s in Civil Engineering, with a concentration in Geotechnical and Structural Engineering. She also completed her undergraduate studies in Civil Engineering at Northeastern. Sarah is a returning intern who was with us last summer in our Walnut Creek, California, office. This summer, Sarah was excited about gaining more field experience (which was limited due to COVID-19 last summer), and “more experience classifying soils in the field, practicing geotechnical calculations, and technical writing.” Sarah is a volleyball player. During quarantine, she got into jump roping and had fun teaching herself new jump rope tricks!

How do you think your internship has prepared you for your future career?
“I’d say that this summer with H&A, I’ve been able to apply the textbook concepts I’ve learned in class to more complex scenarios, with real data, which may not be as neat as the data you’re given in school. I’ve also worked on my communication skills in technical writing and creating spreadsheet tools that other colleagues will be able to understand easily as well.”
