Burlington, Mass., Sept. 7, 2021 – Haley & Aldrich announced today that it has hired Bart Eklund as a Senior Technical Expert specializing in vapor intrusion (VI) and air quality. On September 23 and 24, Eklund will join Haley & Aldrich vapor intrusion experts Senior Technical Specialist Quinten Bingham and Technical Expert Rich Rago at the Air & Waste Management Association’s (AWMA) Advancements in Vapor Intrusion and Emerging Contaminant Air Quality Issues conference. He has served as a testifying expert in U.S. State and Federal Courts, as well as for permit hearings, enforcement actions, and international arbitration. His areas of expertise include air measurements (ambient air, indoor air, soil gas, and emission flux); studies of VI, fate and transport, and odor; air quality at remediation sites, and emission modeling.

“Hiring Bart has further deepened our bench strength in both VI and air quality services,” said Anita Broughton, Haley & Aldrich’s Market Segment Leader for Industrial and Manufacturing. “During his more than 30-year career, he has worked on over 350 sites in 43 states in the U.S. and 14 other countries.” She continued, “He has also been the lead investigator on numerous large, technically challenging air quality studies – including developing and implementing successful strategies for multiple criteria pollutants.”

Rago will chair two sessions, “Session IV: case studies and other lessons learned” on September 23 from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. ET and “Session V: a regulator’s perspective (panel)” on September 24 from 10:00 to 11:20 a.m. On September 24 from 11:30 a.m. to 12:20 p.m., Bingham will present “A logical approach for evaluating the vapor intrusion sewer gas pathway,” as part of Session VI, “The importance of sewers as preferential pathways.” Bingham co-authored his presentation with Haley & Aldrich vapor intrusion expert Principal Consultant Gina Plantz.
