Burlington, Mass., July 23, 2024 — Washington State University sophomore Rylee Gannon has received the 2024 Haley & Aldrich Scholarship, awarded annually through the Puget Sound Engineering & Science Scholarship Fund (PSESSF).
From a competitive field, Gannon earned the $2,500 scholarship based on her academic achievements, leadership and community engagement. A sophomore at Washington State University (WSU) majoring in chemical engineering, Rylee has received the school’s Outstanding First Year and Outstanding Second Year Chemical Engineering Student honors. The WSU Voiland College of Engineering and Architecture selected her as the Overall Sophomore of the Year for 2023-2024.
Gannon serves as vice president of the WSU Chapter of the Society of Women Engineers and as a member of the WSU Chapter of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers. She also planned a Kids Science and Engineering Day for her local community, drawing in more than 250 children.
“I am incredibly grateful to receive the Haley & Aldrich Engineering Award,” said Gannon. “This scholarship gives me the opportunity to continue pursuing my education. And knowing people believe in and are supporting me is motivation to work even harder.”
PSESSF’s scholarship program supports students pursuing an education in science or engineering. The Haley & Aldrich Scholarship specifies that these students come from an underrepresented background in those fields and attend either Washington State University or Seattle University.
