At facilities with subsurface contamination, what other chemicals may your workers be breathing?

A recent presentation by Haley & Aldrich Senior Technical Specialist Mathew Raithel, “At facilities with subsurface contamination, what other chemicals may your workers be breathing?” explored overlooked vapor intrusion hazards in the workplace. Matt presented his research at the AIHce conference in Philadelphia in May 2018, focusing on how chemical concentrations in indoor air associated with vapor intrusion may be quite low compared to other airborne chemicals in the workplace. However, if subsurface vapor intrusion is occurring, exposure to these concentrations does contribute to overall worker exposure. Understanding potential chemical exposures associated with vapor intrusion provides additional important information when assessing overall worker exposure.
