A recent New Jersey Business Magazine article highlighted Haley & Aldrich’s innovative approaches to environmental remediation.
The article, “Environmental Remediation Firms Clean Up NJ,” shares insights from Haley & Aldrich Senior Principal Consultant Mark Fisher (formerly of The ELM Group, based in New Jersey, which Haley & Aldrich acquired in 2024). Mark emphasized the importance of revitalizing contaminated sites to meet changing demands for residential, mixed-use, and commercial spaces, which can often require revisiting past remedies for compliance with current environmental requirements.
As an example of an innovative and effective remediation approach, Mark highlights a successful cleanup project at Rutgers’ Busch campus. The team used thermal remediation and bioremediation to address chlorinated volatile organic compounds in groundwater within a complex bedrock geologic environment — an approach that achieved a 99 percent reduction in residual groundwater contamination.
Mark also discussed Haley & Aldrich’s proprietary remediation technology EradiFluor, which destroys the notoriously difficult-to-remediate class of chemicals known as PFAS. This technology, which Haley & Aldrich developed with funding from a prestigious Department of Defense environmental research program, employs ultraviolet light to destroy PFAS, or per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances, and can treat landfill leachate, municipal drinking water, and wastewater to meet regulatory standards.
