A new column by Haley & Aldrich environmental engineer Sarah Mass now appears in the National Ground Water Association’s Groundwater Monitoring & Remediation quarterly journal. Sarah’s column will provide a valuable bulletin for groundwater professionals with research updates from the Strategic Environmental Research and Development Program (SERDP) and Environmental Security Technology Certification Program (ESTCP)’s Environmental Restoration Program Area. The first installment of Sarah’s “SERDP & ESTCP Corner” includes:
- A request from SERDP for FY 2023 funding proposals.
- A summary of a new SERDP Technical Report, “Assessing and Mitigating Bias in PFAS Levels during Ground and Surface Water Sampling,” which evaluates potential per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) contamination sources in testing materials.
- Highlights from a webinar on SERDP- and ESTCP-funded research into two innovative PFAS treatment technologies. These approaches hold promise to better manage aqueous film-forming foam (AFFF) impacts.
- Upcoming dates and topics for webinars, PFAS presentations, and short courses.
